Deep Dream Generator

Since our class has been writing so many posts about dreams and imagination, I thought I would introduce everyone to the Deep Dream Generator. Have you seen it?

You take your own picture and turn it into a dream.

Here is a version of our school in a dream. Have you ever had a dream like this?

International Dot Day

International Dot Day was on September 15.

Of course, we read The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. Some students painted, others made sticker dot art, and others chose to make art on the interactive white board.

Here are some of our whiteboard creations.

It was a lovely day to make a mark and see where it took us, a day to celebrate creativity.

Free Verse Poems

Seventh graders found a picture in a magazine that told a story for them. They told their stories in free verse poetry. We tried to use descriptive language, emotion, similes and metaphors.

I was proud of the beautiful word images they created, inspired by these photos. Click on a picture to read the poem.

The Evolution of a Series

How long does it take for something to become a series? Three tweets?

Maybe…

Here are three tweets that we think have started a series. We have been seeing some amazing and inspiring videos of creative genius, so we thought a series might be in order.

Check out the first in the series. Have you seen these? All we can say is WOW!

Do you have any WOW videos you’d like us to share?

Just add it to the comments. Or tweet it, mentioning @KrebsClass so we’ll see it. We’ll pass it on and tell everyone we learned about it from you. Thanks!

Research Workshop Products

The last two weeks of school, history students were given time to research a topic they wanted to learn. Students were engaged and actively learning about a subject they cared about. Then they created a product to show their learning. Here are a few of their products…

An animap by Jason and Andrew of Sherman’s March to the Sea, Part 1.

Click to see the Animap on the webpage.

Sherman’s March Animap, Part 2.

Vanessa made a simulation board game to show some of the hardships slaves faced when trying to escape.

Another good product was a Fakebook page, which was an excellent way to show learning. Fakebook can be found at Classtools.net Click here to see Shiann’s fictionalized Brett family fakebook page.
